Slide 2: Interagency Collaboration and “No Wrong Door” to Employment:  Disability Program Navigator (DPN) Program

 

The Goal of the DPN Program is to:

·         Increase employment and self-sufficiency for SSA beneficiaries

·         Provide seamless and comprehensive services to individuals with disabilities to access WIA programs in the One-Stop Career Centers

·         WIPA (Workforce Incentives Planning Assistance) providers:

·         Approximately 20 DPN’s have been trained as WIPA providers and are in the credentialing process.  

DPN Advisory Board:

·         Vocational Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (ACCES-VR)

·         Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped (CBVH)

·         Office of Mental Health (OMH)

·         Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD)

·         Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS)

DPN State Lead represents DOL on the following committees:

·         State Rehabilitation Council (SRC) and the Employer Marketing Sub-Committee

·         Medicaid Infrastructure Grant (MIG) Most Integrated Service Coordinating Council (MISCC) and the Employment and Workforce Development Sub Committee

·         Development Disabilities Policy Council (DDPC) Adult Issues Committee

·         Customized Employment (CE)/Discovery

·         2008 DOL/OASAS joint initiative to improve employment outcomes for individuals with substance abuse disorders.

·         $500,000 DOL  ARRA funds given to OASAS to fund training for Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), CPP (Credentialed Prevention Professional) and Credentialed Prevention Specialist (CPS)

·         $500,000 DOL ARRA funds given to OMH to develop occupational skills training for OMH clients with mental health service providers.

·         ACCES-VR-DOL MOU 7-1-08 through 6-30-10
